Five Best CBD Strains with Low THC Content

While cannabis has been known to have a psychoactive effect for a long time until now little has been known about the benefits of other cannabinoids.

While you may be used to taking cannabis to get you high, there is an increasing number of people who are interested in what the cannabinoid CBD can do when it comes to their health. In fact, CBD is now an essential part of choosing a cannabis strain to take, much more so than THC.

If you don’t know the best strains that are out there, then you’re missing out. That’s why we’ve taken a look at a lot of what’s out there on the market and come up with what we believe to be the five best CBD strains that offer you high concentrations of CBD with low levels of THC. Let’s take a look at what they are.

What is CBD?

Before we dive into the list, let’s briefly discuss exactly what CBD is. CBD is another cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant that doesn’t have any psychoactive properties whatsoever.

While a lot of CBD companies extract both of these cannabinoids to be used in conjunction with one another, there is an increasing number of companies that are using extraction methods that separate them, making them different products.

While CBD is primarily used for its health benefits, THC is still employed in instances of chronic pain and other medical conditions that are considered more serious.

Like other cannabinoids, CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system in our bodies and links to certain receptors we have. The receptors it responds to the most are the ones in our brains that are responsible for things like movement, pain, emotions, and coordination.

It can also help the body to produce more of its own cannabinoids, which ultimately means that it’s excellent for encouraging the body to heal itself.

What is THC?

THC is a cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. Like CBD, it also links to specific receptors found in our body. Because the receptors it binds to are located in our brain, it gives off the psychoactive effect that it’s so well known for and makes us high.

When it comes to health, THC can help in many different ways. These include having a calming effect, decreasing anxiety, and causing the patient to experience a brief amount of euphoria. You may also have an increase in appetite when taking THC.

CBD oil with Trace Amounts of THC: Health Benefits

There are a surprising number of ways that you can take CBD, from taking it orally to inhaling it as a vape and even applying it topically to your skin. There are even tinctures and edibles that are becoming more and more popular.

One of the biggest reasons why CBD is so well-known these days is because of its ability to reduce symptoms associated with chronic pain, as well as helping patients to reduce their dependency on prescription medication.

A study conducted in 2012 showed that CBD was able to reduce inflammation and pain in mice and rats on a significant level. As a result, CBD has gone on to help with chronic pain that comes with medical conditions like fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis.

With this in mind, there have been thoughts on the idea of CBD as a treatment for arthritic pain, too. A study conducted in 2016 gave CBD to rats over the course of a few days, slowly increasing the dose as time went on. The results indicated a decrease in inflammation and pain in their joints without any apparent side effects.

One of the CBD strains that we’ll cover below is called Charlotte’s Web. It is quite possibly the most famous CBD strain, because of its effect on a child named Charlotte Figi.

Charlotte suffered a high number of seizures per day due to her medical condition Dravet’s Syndrome. After taking this strain of CBD, the number of seizures she had every day was reduced significantly.

Another reason why CBD is such an excellent treatment for patients with anxiety is that THC can often cause paranoia. A study conducted in 2015 indicated that CBD was an effective treatment for patients who suffered from high levels of anxiety.

Five Best CBD Strains with Low THC Content

With all this being said, let’s get into the five best CBD strains that come with low levels of THC.

1. Harlequin

We’ll begin with the CBD strain that actually has the highest level of THC – but we include it because it’s also known for having a high level of CBD, too.

The CBD THC ratio is ideal if you’re someone who’s looking for a way to stay energetic and alert throughout the day. Strangely enough, you can also use this CBD strain if you’re looking to calm down and relax, too. It’s ideal if you’re someone who enjoys smoking their CBD during the day, and the worst side effect you’re going to get from this is dry eyes.

Because Harlequin comes with a high level of THC, it’s also great for pain relief and is recommended for people who experience chronic pain. As well as this benefit, it can also be used to help combat migraine and depression as well.

Use Harlequin if you’re looking to get off prescription drugs and need a strong alternative in their place.

2. Harle-Tsu

This CBD strain is dominated by Indica and contains only 1% THC, so it’s great if you’re looking for a strain that contains a very small amount of THC. While it’s currently quite a rare strain, the attention it’s been given recently means that it will most likely get a lot more common in the future.

Like Harlequin, this CBD strain works as a powerful pain killer, but at the same time is quite mellow. While you may feel the smallest buzz when you initially take it, feelings of being completely relaxed and calm will soon take over.

This is another CBD strain that’s ideal for during the day because it can also make you feel energized. As well as chronic pain this CBD strain can help with migraines, inflammation, PMS, and PTSD.

3. Ringo’s Gift

If you’re looking for a CBD strain that has a high level of CBD and a low level of THC, you’ll want to check out Ringo’s Gift. In fact, there are varieties of this CBD strain out there that contain as much as 20% CBD and as little as 1% THC.

Ringo’s Gift is known for being earthy in both taste and aroma. Because the concentration of THC is low in this strain, the buzz you get from it will be barely noticeable. Like the other strains on our list, you’ll find that Ringo’s Gift is good for chronic pain and PTSD. It’s also good for arthritis and muscle spasms.

4. Charlotte’s Web

Charlotte’s Web is so famous as a CBD strain, in fact, that it pioneered the movement for the legalization of CBD. As we mentioned above, it dramatically reduced the number of seizures that Charlotte Figi was having on a daily basis. Another benefit of this strain is that because it’s so low in THC, it can actually be sold as a dietary supplement.

You may have already guessed that you’re not going to experience even a slight high with this CBD strain. Another interesting fact is that it’s taken in an oral drop form, as opposed to smoked.

As well as being known for helping reduce seizures, this CBD strain can also help with medical conditions including fibromyalgia and arthritis.

5. ACDC

The ACDC strain is undoubtedly one of the most varied CBD strains available on the market. You can get many different ratios of ACDC, with some including THC as high as 6% with CBD at 20%. It also comes with small amounts of THC, some varieties containing as little as 0.42%.

As you may expect, when you smoke or consumer ACDC you’ll immediately feel a buzz. Because it can help you concentrate and socialize better, it’s recommended that you take it during the day.

Because this CBD strain is so varied, it also comes with many different health benefits. These include nausea, migraines, inflammation, anxiety, arthritis, and even bipolar disorder. It is also a preferred CBD strain in people who suffer from chronic pain.

Final Thoughts

As CBD becomes increasingly more popular, the variety of strains out there increase. While this means that you’re spoiled for choice, it can also mean that people are beginning to cultivated low-quality strains in order to turn a quick profit.

With this in mind, it’s important to be able to discern what’s a good strain and what isn’t. This is especially important if you’re on the lookout for a CBD oil that has low levels of THC – you don’t want to get stuck with a product that makes you high each time, but does little for your health issues.

  1. I’m not particularly interested in getting high because I have generalized anxiety disorder and I’ve read that THC may make this condition worse. But I know about the benefits of CBD for my condition. What would be the best way to take CBD for anxiety? I was thinking edibles but are they potent enough?
